James is a Resident in Counseling at Bright Horizons. He earned his Master of Arts in
Professional Counseling from Liberty University. He completed his internship with
Riverside Counseling in Fredericksburg, VA. Prior to pursuing his counseling degree, James
spent time in the U.S. Navy, retail management, Christian education, and served in bi-vocational
pastoral positions. James is currently working on earning his Doctor of Education in Community
Care and Counseling (Ed.D.), with a marriage and family counseling specialization from Liberty
James has experience providing counseling for adolescents, adults, couples, and groups.
Some of the areas that James has experience in are premarital counseling, marriage counseling,
sex addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, parenting skills, Christian faith-based counseling,
and Family-of-Origin issues. James has begun the process of becoming certified in Emotional
Focus Therapy for couples and has completed the EFT Externship. He is also a certified
facilitator in PREPARE/ENRICH, a proven tool that helps premarital couples prepare for
marriage, and married couples strengthen their marital relationship.
