“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” – C.S. Lewis
Kim Anderson, MS, Resident in Counseling
Master of Science
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from California State University at Chico and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Central Texas.
While I can work with clients in all stages of life, I specialize in working with children, teenagers, and young adults. I believe there is something raw and empowering about these age groups as this is the time when personality is developing, decision-making skills are honed, and the world is completely open. I interned at Mary Washington University and discovered a love for the college-age population, as they face the transition from child to adulthood. In addition, I have a deep connection to the military community, and understand the support and encouragement needed for military families and military personnel. Phase of life issues such as becoming empty nesters, adulting issues, divorce, loss/grief are all areas I can support. I believe we all have stories, and together we can create new chapters that will lead to happier endings.
HOW I HELP
A recent mentor of mine would often say, “sad is sad.” Think about that for a moment…and then lets work through it together by learning how to be mindful of your thoughts, thought patterns, and recognize negative or self-defeating behaviors. I can help you identify your goals and the needed steps to achieve them. My desire is for you to become empowered, recognize your own internal strength, and change your story for the better
