“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you” – Maya Angelou
Kurt Droste, MA, Resident in Counseling
Master of Arts
I recieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Averett University in 2014 and shortly after realized that my interests lay in different areas. I have always wanted to help people to improve their lives and to that end received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands in 2019 and will complete a Master’s Degree in Substance abuse Counseling in 2020.
I interned for about a year while working towards the Counseling degree, working with clients struggling with many different issues. I truly enjoy working with people of all ages and with all concerns, though I gravitate towards working with clients dealing with Bipolar Disorder, Narcissim, Borderline Personality Disorder and OCD.
My father retired from the Air Force in 1997 and I will retire from the Marine Corps in early 2021, so having been around the military my whole life, I have a deep understanding of the unique culture of Veterans and their families and everything involved in that lifestyle. I believe this will be a strength for all clients, whether they are affiliated with the military or not.
HOW I HELP
I believe that the most important thing to begin with is listening, to truly begin striving to understand you and see how I can best be of help. I will strive to provide a safe, calm and accepting environment where we can explore those things that may be holding you back from being what you want to be. I believe deeply that you are the ultimate expert on yourself and our relationship will always be all about you and how we can begin moving towards “your best self.”
